Sea of flowers heralds the approach of spring
A carpet of yellow and white at Shipton, near Much Wenlock - a welcome sign that spring is on the way.

This display of snowdrops and winter aconites sparkling in the winter sunshine is always at the top of my to-do list at this time of the year.
If you decide to pay a visit for yourself, then be sure to view the memorial in St James’ Church to the so-called Mayflower Children, who were the innocent victims of a family scandal.
The four youngsters were born at nearby Larden Hall and were banished to America on the Mayflower with the Pilgrim Fathers in 1620.
Only one of them survived the sea crossing and the hardships of the first year, and a plaque in the church commemorates their story.
