Sunshine and frost at the start of a new year
It’s the dawn of a new year - and here to welcome 2024 is the Wrekin seen from Cressage Bridge.
I took this picture on a beautiful morning of sunshine and frost.
It's a favourite location of mine, but on this particular occasion I definitely needed a thicker pair of socks!
Not far from this spot is Castle Mound, the site of a motte and bailey castle that once controlled the ford across the River Severn.
The existing bridge was built in 1913, replacing a wooden toll bridge designed by Thomas Telford.
Over the next 12 months I am looking forward to discovering new footpaths and photographing those lesser-known corners of Shropshire. Can’t wait!
